You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me - 50 years old

Dusty’s biggest it single - You Don’t Have To Say You Love Me - was released 50 years ago today on the Philips label - BF1482. The B side was the wonderful Every Ounce Of Strength. The 2 tracks are so different, they encapsulate the versatility of Dusty in the one disc.

The story of how Dusty first heard Io Che No Vivo Senza Te at the 1965 San remo festival has now gone down in legend. Other lyricists, including Barry Mason, had a stab at the English lyrics, before Vicki Wickham & Simon Napier-Bell scribbled them down in a cab, and the rest is history.
