In 1999 we had no iPod; there was no You Tube, no Facebook or Twitter, and there were no Smartphones, but we still had Dusty.
She entered our consciousness in the 1960s with that voice - able to touch us and thrill us in equal measure, and a personality that made us want to be wherever she was.
Her look was, and still is, iconic. You only need to see a silhouette and you know it’s Dusty.
She died on March 2, 1999, but left behind a body of music & recorded performance that will live forever. There’s no doubt about that now. She may be even more popular, 15 years on, than she was when she left us.
